Unplanned, untrained, unable to breath. That sums up my race. haha.
Actually, I picked up our packets on Thursday and we got really cool shirts. I did order mine up 2 sizes! (I learned from the OSU race!)
Jeff wasn't feeling well. He was up the night before and was feeling very poorly.
We got to the race early, like really early. It was cold. I waited inside the Tim Horton's doors - Jeff waited outside. I ran into my cousin Sarah and her friend Keri there where we were all trying to keep warm.
Had I been feeling better I would have gotten pictures with the Mascots that were there. As it was I was lucky to be standing.
We wondered over to the start. Sarah and Kerri went to the 10 minute pace group. I was aiming for 11 min...Jeff went back to 12.
**NOTE ON MY WAY DOWN I REALIZED THAT I LEFT MY GARMIN AT HOME. OOPS**
So, I was running naked so to speak, running sick...gee this is a good idea for a shirt and a medal! Race starts. I don't care what anyone says hearing the National Anthem is wonderful.
The race started, I kept it slow and comfortable (so I could breathe). I missed the mile markers, I just ran...I saw the 35 minute race group, and slowly passed them. I could see the 32 min group ahead. I just ran a comfortable pace. I apparently passed my cousin and Kerri. (I didn't realize that). I saw the 32 minute group ahead. I didn't think I ever passed them. I obviously did.
I finished the race at 31:36...no idea of the splits...no idea of anything. I had a great race and took a long nap afterwards!

plans...who needs plans
Well, training was supposed to start this week - finished off with a 5k this weekend. I have run um, zero times this week, as breathing has been difficult. I have some sort of allergy/sinus issue. If I still feel like crap tomorrow I will go get help. it will have been a week. I no longer feel like I swallowed glass. So there is that as a positive.
I am still planning to run (survive) the 5k on Saturday because well, I paid for it and I want the shirt and medal!

The weekend
So, I have never been so excited to put a weekend behind me. I started the process at 8pm. I woke up at 1am with awful cramping and that is when the process really started. I fell back to sleep about 3am. and work up at 5. Ugh. It continued. When I got up at 7:30, I felt fine but tired. I tried to do somethings around the house. When Lill napped, so did I. I got up to have Jeff go pick up dinner and then I went to bed at 630p. I woke up Sunday and felt much better. Not 100% but definitely better. I went out and finished Christmas shopping but came home very tired. I am hoping to get to bed pretty early today.

What's Been Happening
Who knew that the day after the last post that I would take a pregnancy test that would rock our world for the next 5 weeks?
On Wednesday, November 12, I randomly took a pregnancy test before going to the Y. The test was positive. After looking at it several times, I woke Jeff up to come look! This was not something that was planned, but now as a possibility, it was very exciting.
I went online and determined a due date of July 22. Very Exciting.
I called my doctor immediately to get a prescription of Progesterone. The doctor didn't want to do bloodwork or see me until Dec 18th.
The next week was great. The following Thursday(Nov 20), I had some spotting. I called the office and they now wanted to do labwork and I asked about the Rhogam injection. I went in for the labwork that afternoon. I spoke to the nurse at length. The doctor still didn't want to see me. We would repeat the labwork the following Monday.
Monday afternoon I went in to repeat the labwork. Was told to expect a call in the morning but if I didn't hear anything by 2, to please call in. So, Tuesday am, I was expecting a call. I finally called in at 2:30 and had to leave a message. The nurse called me back and said there was an issue at the lab and that the results were not back because the office forgot to pull a new requisition. I was very upset by this and concerned because we were headed into the holiday weekend and was having flashbacks to my first miscarriage. I was told that I would get a call first thing in the morning.
So, at 8:31 I began waiting for this call. at 9:30, I was impatient. I called and left a message. At 11:30, I left another message. I finally got a call back and was told that the results were sitting on the doctor's desk and we were waiting for the next steps. Once again, I explained that this was not told to me and that the nurse had told me I would get a call first thing in the am. I finally got a call back from the nurse, who said that the doctor was getting ready to close for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The dr advised me to go to ER to have an ultrasound. The nurse told me she didn't have time to see me due to shortened hours. I said so instead of an office visit I would pay an ER visit for my insurance. She said the doctor was concerned about an ectopic pregnancy. I should call the office on Monday with an update.
So, the night before Thanksgiving, I went to ER to have a routine ultrasound done. The ER was unhappy with the doctor's orders to routine ultrasound at ER. The ER was very kind the doctor told me that the sac was empty, which could be because I was early (6 weeks) or that I was going to miscarry. So I went home with a heavy heart for Jeff, Lillie and me. I was also very sad that I had to hear this information from a doctor I didn't know rather than a doctor that I have experience and a history with.
Thanksgiving I began cramping with more bleeding. We chose to stay home rather than celebrate with family.
Friday after Thanksgiving, I called a new doctor, I was to get blood work done on Saturday am, then repeat it 48 hours later. Then the new doctor would see me on Wednesday with an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound and with my untrained eye, I could see an empty sac (7 weeks). The ultrasound tech confirmed this.I went in to speak to the dr. She said that we had a 50/50 shot at a viable pregnancy. She said that because the 2 ultrasounds were done by different technologists with 2 different machines and that my hcg numbers were increasing appropriately. So we scheduled for 2 weeks to see if anything changed.
The dr went over my options if in fact I do have a blighted ovum.
Forward to yesterday, I went in for the ultrasound and it was indeed an empty sac (blighted ovum), we have chosen to use the medication Friday evening unless my takes care of this itself prior. I am thinking I will take the medicine about 4:30. The dr said the cramps would start 4-8 hours later, which would be about time for Lillie to go to bed. We didn't make any definite plans for the weekend, so I am hoping I can rest on Saturday. I just want this over. with. NOW.
hopefully we can put this behind us and look forward to Christmas with our little girl and the New Year.

- Allow my body to miscarry on its own. Could take an additional 10 weeks.
- Force a miscarriage at home with a prescription.
- Surgical procedure to remove the sac.

What's up?
So let's see, once again, I haven't posted in a little bit. Life is busy y'all.
I have hardly run...but still am okay with it...gotta get a couple races lined up.
I have started (well two days in) a strength training program. My arse is telling me I did too many lunges yesterday! I am following a plan from bodybuilding.com It is 12 weeks.
I started to work full-time. Today is day 2 of that too...so far so good.

Columbus Half Marathon - 10/19/2014
I signed up for this race back in May. I have wanted to do Columbus for quite awhile. I have been training with two girls who were running the full. This was the first race, that I really didn't have too many jitters regarding training. I felt I had trained strong and I felt good with very minimal aches and pains.
Friday after work we went down to the Race Expo. I thought it was well organized. Lots to offer. I got a new race/fuel belt. I was pretty excited as I have never found one I really liked.
Sunday morning I woke up at 4:00. I went down and took some ibuprofen and made a coffee. I ate a chobani with oats (my new favorite thing). I went upstairs and put on my race clothes. I wore a pink adidas long sleeved shirt, nike shorts, CRX compression socks, Moving Comfort Bra.
I made the decision to wear my new fuel belt/race belt combo. Normally you aren't supposed to wear/do anything new for race day, but I had bought a new belt as, I have always hated the one I had. Plus it wasn't big enough, so I had to wear a spibelt. They drove me crazy. Anywho.
Jeff and I left to go pick up running pals - Stephanie and Maritsa. Then we headed Downtown. Parking was no problem. We confirmed that Jeff was going to be at about Mile 7.5, then at the finish.
We all walked over to the MIT group. Steph and Mari are part of MIT. We use the potties and headed to the rooms. There was music playing and runners prepping for their races. If being here didn't get you excited about running you are most definitely not a runner.
Steph left to go stay with her training group. She was doing the full.
Maritsa stayed behind and we all walked over to the start line together.
It was a long walk, or so it seemed. There was the race energy in the air. We got to the race and I initially lined up with Mari and her group in Corral D. Then they went to the potty and I stayed back, I figured we wouldn't meet back up so maybe I should go to the Corral C and try to find the pacer for a 4:15 marathon. I found my assigned corral but never did see a 4:15 marathon. Hmm. Oh well.
The first group went off and then we waited, finally it was our turn. The gun went off and away we went, well sort of. It was very crowded. I was having a hard time running.
My plan for this race was to finish. To do my 2:00/:30 the entire race. To fuel properly at miles 3, 6, 9 and 12 and most importantly to have fun. I was running odd numbers for Tommy's 40th birthday and even numbers for my cousin Liz. I wore my grey ribbon for them (Grey is for Brain tumors)
So, I finally was able to do the intervals. I was running good and feeling good. There were tons of people. there was tons of crowd support. Each mile of the race had a child champion. They were on site to high five. Seeing these kids was AMAZING.
This race was very good as far as races go. The Expo was great, the start line was fin (minus the fact I couldn't find a pacer) The course was good, although there were places that were crowded and it was very hard to pass people. The finish line. Well I didn't have any issues...BUT I was disappointed that my medal was in a plastic bag (which the race director sent out a letter to explain why - good move) It seemed that we had to walk quite a bit to get food/ drink/meet family members/get gear check. I wanted to go get a finishers shirt but the crowd was crazy. There were people waiting and waiting to claim their bags. I had REALLY wanted to meet Steph and run her in but the crowds were just too much. We couldn't move and my muscles were beginning to tighten up.
Mile 1 - 10:50
Mile 2 - 10:56
Mile 3 - 10:42
Mile 4 - 10:45
Mile 5 - 10:25
Mile 6 - 10:29
Mile 7 - 11:03
Mile 8 - 10:25
Mile 9 - 10:24
Mile 10 - 11:04
Mile 11 - 11:03
Mile 12 - 11:14
Mile 13 - 10:39
all in all, I cut 3 minutes off my half time. I had a great run. Each time I began to get discouraged, I thought of Liz and Tommy and I got through. I wish I could have gone faster, but the goal was to finish. I will do this race again!
